Dr. Frank Crossman is a member of the Northern California Chapter of the Mars Society. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University. He retired as Director of Materials and Structures research and development at Lockheed Martin's Advanced Technology Center where he worked for over thirty years. Active in several engineering societies and university advisory boards, he was a member of the National Research Council's National Materials Advisory Board for seven years. Dr. Crossman is the author of over 50 technical papers in the areas of the mechanics of composite materials and structures, and he has co-edited several books. He lives with his wife in Palo Alto, CA.
